OUR STORY
Juniors Read is a children’s literacy company that focuses on love, literacy, and black aesthetic.
With over 300 children's books in our daughters' library, we have a set of favorite books with and without black characters at their helm. Because we love what is out there, we know that continuing to create quality material will bring attention to existing work while encouraging new authors and illustrators to create new work.
Donovan Anderson who penned the Annie and Izzie stories is a follower of Christ, from Jamaica, a father of four, and a lover of science fiction. The stories draw from the complexity of his experience and his desire to create children's literature that focus on both literacy and the black aesthetic for this generation and many to come.
The children’s book Mango in a Tree was funded through a successful crowdfunding campaign. The first printing of 1000 books sold out. And all profit was used to invest in the production of the children’s books Lead the Way, Empress in the Place, and Ten Afros Up on Top.
